Description
NOTE : DUE TO WEATHER THE TOURNAMENT DATES HAVE CHANGED.
Welcome back! The first Joola Valley Open at the Chico Racquet Club was awesome and we are excited to take all that we learned to make this one even better! Our goal is to put on the best experience possible for the northern California pickleball community and beyond. We will have prizes, a raffle, medals, food trucks, beer and refreshments, and a great atmosphere for 2 full days of pickleball for all skill levels and fun for all ages, plus a free pizza party on the eve of the tourney for all those who enter.
Schedule and registration info:
Friday April 15th
6pm-9pm- Pizza/ open play night!
Anyone registered in the tournament is welcome to come hang out, have free pizza and drinks, and get some warm up games in the night before the tourney.
Saturday April 15th – Womens / Mens Divisions
Sunday April 16th – Mixed Divisions
Start time for both days will be 9 AM, with warm up and check in starting at 8 AM. We will be staggering the start times for divisions to make the days flow as smoothly as possible so if you are in the 4.0 or 4.5+ divisions, expect to start later in the day, possibly in the 1pm to 4pm zone. A full schedule will be released once registration is closed a couple days before the tournament.
Early registration cost is $90 per team through February 7th ($45 per person), per event.
Late Registration, Febuary 8th- February 28th, is $120 per team ($60 per person), per event. Sign up early!
One team member must pay the full team cost for both players at the time of registration. Both players email addresses will be required. Refunds can be given up until February 28th.
We are working with fwango to get scores entered into dupr. We can’t guarantee it will happen this time, but will try our best and keep all entrants updated. Feel free to sign in with dupr ID or not.
Format: It will be a round robin tournament, with each team guaranteed at least 4 games to 15, or 5 games to 11, but most likely more (depending on final bracket size).
The top 4 teams (or 6 in divisions of 12+ teams), from each division will move on to the “playoffs”, with the semi finals and finals being best of 3, games to 11, win by 2, and bronze medal games being one game to 15, win by 2. The winners of each division will get a variety of prizes including gear and gift certificates, and 1st-3rd will get medals.
**If we need to combine divisions, we will still take the top teams from each division and have individual playoffs and medals for them. (Example from last year: the 3.0 men only got 4 teams, so we combined them with the 6 3.5 mens teams for pool play, then had separate playoffs and medals for the top 4 of each division level.)
Official Ball: Franklin x-40
